Portafilter machine with an E61 brew group and a two-litre heat exchanger boiler: the chrome-plated brass group is heated along with the boiler water and is up to temperature from the first shot, and the two-stage lever gives a pre-infusion without electronics. Espresso and milk steam run in parallel, 58 mm portafilter in trade size, PID, Ulka vibration pump, removable 1.8 litre tank with the option of a plumbed water supply.

Strengths & things to consider

✓ What speaks for it
  • E61 brew group of chrome-plated brass — heated along with the boiler water, up to temperature from the first shot
  • Two-litre heat exchanger boiler: espresso and milk steam at the same time, no drop-off over several shots
  • Pre-infusion purely mechanical via the two-stage lever — no electronics that can fail
  • 58 mm portafilter in trade size: tampers, distributors, precision baskets and bottomless portafilters fit
  • PID temperature control and gauges for boiler and brew pressure
  • Removable 1.8 litre tank, plumbed water supply possible
· What you should factor in
  • Vibration pump instead of a rotary pump — audibly louder, and the reason for this price class
  • 15 bar describe the pump, not the pressure at the coffee — around 9 bar at the basket is the target
  • Single boiler with heat exchanger, not a dual boiler: the brew temperature depends on the boiler pressure
  • No grinder — the mill comes on top
  • Power consumption, weight and heat-up time are not documented: the goods stay unopened and are not tested
  • Bought-in goods under our own name; the technical data come from the manufacturer

Editorial assessment

The omaneo.KARIN is an E61 machine, and that says most of it: she belongs to the design that has been standing in cafés since 1961 and that survived so stubbornly because it solves a problem of physics elegantly. The brew group of chrome-plated brass is permanently flushed by boiler water and heated along with it. It is as warm on the first shot as on the tenth — no preheating, no flushing, no guessing about temperature. The two-litre heat exchanger boiler is the second half of that calculation. It keeps steam ready for the milk while the brew water passes through it on its way to the group and takes on exactly the temperature it needs. Espresso and milk foam are therefore no longer one after the other. Two litres in reserve mean that the machine does not give way on the third and fourth shot — the difference between a machine for Sunday morning and one for service. The lever of the E61 group opens in two stages. First water runs onto the coffee bed at low pressure, so that it soaks and settles; only then does the pump come up to full. In other designs this pre-infusion is electronics; here it is mechanics — it cannot fail. What you should know: the pump is a vibration pump. It costs less, builds smaller and is audibly louder than a rotary pump; the manufacturer offers both variants and names the difference himself. The fifteen bar quoted are its peak figure, not the pressure at the coffee — around 9 bar is the target there, and the expansion valve takes care of that. Anyone who takes a figure on a data sheet for a mark of quality is confusing reserve with working point. The 58 millimetre portafilter is the trade size. Tampers, distributors, precision baskets and bottomless portafilters from the specialist trade fit — the machine is therefore not a closed system but the beginning of a set-up you can extend over years.
This machine is a decision for reproducibility over convenience. She does not grind, she does not dose, she does not clear anything away — she holds temperature and pressure steady and leaves the rest to the person. Anyone who reads that as a shortcoming is better served by a bean-to-cup machine. Anyone who reads it as an offer gets a design that has had spare parts for six decades. Her real value lies in the heat exchanger. It turns a machine for one cup into a machine for a round. You do not notice it on the first espresso, you notice it on the fourth. The vibration pump is the honest compromise of this machine: it is louder, and it is the reason why the KARIN sits in this price class. In the cup its difference to a rotary pump cannot be tasted; in the room it can be heard.

About us

omaneo stands for a simple conviction: great espresso is no accident, but the result of good equipment, honest knowledge and a fair share of passion. From Neuss we bring together everything that shortens the road to the perfect cup — espresso and portafilter machines, bean-to-cup machines, grinders, barista accessories and carefully selected coffee, including our own brands.

We do not sell boxes, we share a craft. Every machine is tested, documented and explained in plain language — with technical data sheets, clear assessments and videos that show what really matters. What convinces us, we say; what you should factor in, we do not keep quiet about. That honesty matters more to us than a quick sale.

Out of hundreds of models we select, compare and classify — so that you do not get lost in a jungle of data sheets, but find exactly what suits your taste, your kitchen and your budget. Alongside that, a magazine full of barista knowledge that turns curiosity into real skill.

Behind omaneo there is real advice from people who love espresso themselves. Whether you are looking for your first machine or refining your setup: we listen, we ask, and we recommend what fits — not what costs most. On top of that, a 30-day money-back guarantee, fast delivery and service that does not end with the purchase.

Our standards are high, our promise is simple: quality you can taste in the cup. Because in the end that is what counts — the result. Welcome to omaneo.
